The Druids Town on the Teign

"Crossing the bridge and ascending an equally steep hill we reach Drewsteignton, once asserted to be "the Druid's town on the Teign," where the "Druid's Arms" hung out its sign accordingly. Now the Druid has vanished and given place to the "Drew Arms" of the Devonshire family descended from Drogo de Teign who owned the manor (and gave his name to the place) soon after the Conquest."
